i wish

all this talk about how unhappy everyone was during the last decade got me wondering why. or, actually—because there are a lot of obvious answers—what will change this decade to make people feel happier?

i haven't figured it all out just yet (give me time) but i did find myself wishing for certain things this year. such as:

- i wish for people to spend more time visiting with and talking to senior citizens—whether it's grandparents, neighbors or residents at a local nursing home. these folks have amazing stories to tell and know more about life than we do.
- i wish for 98 percent of reality shows to go off the air (Jersey Shore, i'm talking to you; Biggest Loser, you can stay).
- i wish for everyone to finally stop smoking already. it's gross, expensive and deadly. what's the appeal?
- i wish for a news cycle longer than 15 minutes—and please no more balloon boys or Gosselin divorce dramas.
- i wish for people in general to leave more to the imagination.
- i wish for "fame" to become less desirable so that fewer people take extreme measures (i.e. sleeping with married celebrities, YouTubing, etc.) to get it.
- i wish for a puppy. (had to sneak that one in there.)
- i wish for people to take responsibility for whatever they're angry or upset about and stop taking it out other people—family members, co-workers, strangers. not cool.
- i wish for a major Kindle boycott because it's just the worst invention ever.
- i wish for every person on the planet to be able to take a vacation this year—everyone needs time off.

yeah. that's all for now. it's a start.
